Our material is used in Koura glove to prevent harmful impurities from spreading and giving your hands the safety they deserve. The commercial production of Koura will begin in August. 

PREXELENT & Koura - fighting impurities together

Developed and patented by Premix, PREXELENT technology introduces a new perspective for cleanliness and safety. In short, it combines resin and plastic to create a new kind of material. This material is now commercially utilized in Koura gloves.

PREXELENT is a responsible choice for fighting impurities. Resin is abundantly available in nature, and at the end of its lifecycle, it does not bioaccumulate in the environment. Thus, we were happy to start the co-operation with Koura that shares the same values of safety and sustainability!

Koura is a thin glove with three fingers. You take Koura with you whenever leaving home and use it when needed. Koura protects you wherever you go. When you touch items with Koura, your hands stay safe from impurities. Because Koura is made of PREXELENT, you won't spread the impurities further but protect people around you, too. And instead of using multiple disposable gloves, you can use Koura many times.

MRSA viability tests

Test results by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland: Antibacterial efficacy of plastic samples. Test method modified from standard ISO 22196:2011(E) “Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces”.).

Scientifically proven efficiency

In technical terms, PREXELENT concerns a new so-called melt compounding process, in which an active antimicrobial agent is processed straight into plastic. Premix's customers can further process the resulting material - in the same way as plastics in general, including injection molding or extrusion - into different shapes.

Essential in PREXELENT is the controlled release of the active agent to the plastic’s surface, where it has the most effect. Both the timing and quantity of the agent’s release can be controlled depending on the application. The antimicrobial properties are activated by humidity or liquid.

According to the verified test results, the technology is highly efficient against many harmful impurities, such as MRSA, listeria, and salmonella. The technology's 99,9 % effectivity against MRSA has been verified in a test carried out by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland: Antibacterial efficacy of plastic samples.
