Improve food safety with PREXELENT® technology and rosin
Fight against harmful microbes like salmonella, listeria and mold in food production and packing.
Pinetree rosin* is well known for its protective properties, which have been known for centuries. It is our hero ingredient and the starting point for our innovation.
Rosin in the inner surface of packaging can slow down mold formation, expand shelf life, and decrease food loss. Rosin is approved for use in food contact (note migration levels). PREXELENT® makes it possible to add the antimicrobial properties of rosin into packaging materials, both inner and outer surfaces, plastic components and parts in, for instance, conveyor belts, and thin films covering shared touch screens.
PREXELENT® is a very sustainable choice. The active ingredient is 100% natural, comes from coniferous trees, and is a by-product of the Finnish forest industry. Unlike many antibacterial substances on the market, it does not contain heavy metals and substances harmful to people or nature. PREXELENT® technology and rosin do not affect the recyclability of the end product.
* Rosin is not registered by the EU as a biocide
